Robby Benson (born Robin Segal) rose to fame as a teen idol in the late 1970s in Ode to Billy Joe, One on One, and Ice Castles, then voiced the Beast across Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991) and its many sequels and spinoffs. He directed six episodes of Friends and, after four open-heart surgeries beginning at age 28 to correct congenital defects, became an advocate for heart research, publishing a memoir about the experience in 2012.
