A stand-up comedian who helped define the album-length comedy set, Klein earned Grammy nominations for his first two records and hosted Saturn Night Live twice in its debut seasons, in 1975 and 1978. He crossed into Broadway with a Tony nomination for They're Playing Our Song and built a durable film and television career, from The Owl and the Pussycat and Primary Colors to recurring roles on Law & Order: SVU and The Good Wife decades later. Two Emmy-nominated specials, decades apart, bookended a career built on outlasting trends rather than chasing them.
