Rodney Dangerfield

American stand-up comedian

1921 – 2004aged 82

Born Jacob Cohen, he spent decades building the stand-up persona of the overlooked everyman before his catchphrase, "I get no respect," made him a household name — a slow-burn career that only broke through when he was already nearing sixty. His breakout film role, the nouveau-riche golfer in Caddyshack (1980), led to a run of comedies including Back to School and Easy Money, and his 1980 album No Respect won the Grammy for Best Comedy Album. He also took a rare dramatic turn as an abusive father in Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.
