Rosanna Arquette won a BAFTA for playing a woman drawn into someone else's chaotic double life in Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), one of a run of 1980s roles — After Hours, The Big Blue, an Emmy-nominated turn in The Executioner's Song — that made her a fixture of American independent film before Pulp Fiction (1994) introduced her to a new generation. She later turned to directing, making the documentary Searching for Debra Winger (2002).
