Rose Friedman completed every requirement for a doctorate in economics at Chicago except the dissertation, then spent seventy years as her husband Milton Friedman's full collaborator rather than his helpmate — co-writing Capitalism and Freedom, Free to Choose, and Tyranny of the Status Quo, and co-producing the Free to Choose television series. Together they founded what is now EdChoice to promote school vouchers. Ronald Reagan joked at Milton's 1988 Medal of Freedom ceremony that she was the only person who ever won an argument with him.
