Sid Melton

Sid Melton, born Sidney Meltzer, worked in roughly 140 film and television projects across nearly 60 years without ever quite becoming a household name — the hallmark of a genuinely durable character actor. He played bumbling carpenter Alf Monroe on Green Acres and Danny Thomas's Copa Club proprietor Charlie Halper, and turned up decades later in Golden Girls flashbacks as Sophia Petrillo's long-dead husband.
