Skylar Astin originated the role of Georg in the Broadway premiere of Spring Awakening before playing Jesse Swanson opposite Anna Kendrick in Pitch Perfect and its sequel, roles built as much around his singing as his acting. He later took over a lead role on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and starred in the musical dramedy Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist.
