Steve Franken found his signature role early, as the wealthy playboy Chatsworth Osborne Jr. on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1960–1963), but kept working steadily for another five decades rather than being defined by it. He held his own opposite Peter Sellers in Blake Edwards' The Party (1968), later turned up on Seinfeld and The King of Queens, and lent his voice to Batman: The Animated Series.
