Steve Gerber created Howard the Duck, the satiric Marvel Comics character built to lampoon the sincerity of superhero comics, and wrote Man-Thing, Omega the Unknown, and a run on The Defenders. He was known for folding dense, digressive text pages into the middle of his comic scripts, as in his graphic novel Stewart the Rat. Gerber was posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2010.
