Susan Strasberg
American film and stage actress
1938 – 1999aged 60
At eighteen, Strasberg was nominated for a Tony Award for originating the title role in The Diary of Anne Frank on Broadway, and by 1955 she'd appeared on the covers of both Life and Newsweek as Hollywood's presumed next great ingenue. Daughter of acting teacher Lee Strasberg, she was a close friend and confidante of Marilyn Monroe and wrote two candid memoirs about her Hollywood circle. Her later career shifted toward horror films and television, a common enough arc for actresses whose greatest role came at eighteen rather than forty.
