Suzy McKee Charnas spent nearly thirty years on The Holdfast Chronicles, a four-volume science fiction series working through feminist dystopia, separatist societies and the aftermath of war, from Walk to the End of the World in 1974 to The Conqueror's Child in 1999. Her writing also won the genre's top honors — the Hugo, the Nebula and the James Tiptree Jr. Award — and she adapted her own novel The Vampire Tapestry into a stage play.
