American filmmaker
b. 1949age 77Living
Terry Zwigoff made his name in documentary with Louie Bluie (1985) and Crumb (1995), a profile of underground cartoonist Robert Crumb. He then moved to fiction, writing and directing the Academy Award-nominated Ghost World (2001), adapted from Daniel Clowes' comic, and the dark comedy Bad Santa (2003) — films that, like his documentaries, center on misfits, antiheroes, and alienation.
