Tzipi Livni held eight different cabinet posts across Israeli governments, more than any other Israeli woman, including stints as the country's first female vice prime minister, justice minister and foreign minister. As foreign minister under Ehud Olmert, she led rounds of negotiations with the Palestinians in pursuit of a two-state solution, and in 2008 came close to becoming prime minister before the arithmetic in the Knesset ran out.
