Walter Bernstein was blacklisted by every Hollywood studio in the 1950s over his Communist Party membership and years later turned that experience directly into the screenplay for The Front (1976). He also wrote Yanks (1979) and Little Miss Marker (1980), and received the Writers Guild of America's Ian McLellan Hunter and Evelyn F. Burkey Awards over a career that spanned seven decades.
