Hid from the Nazis as a child in occupied France, then spent his career demonstrating that human judgement departs from rationality in ways that are systematic and predictable. His work with Amos Tversky founded behavioural economics; the Nobel Prize in Economics followed in 2002. A psychologist who never took an economics course.
