Donald Glaser
American physicist and neurobiologist
1926 – 2013aged 86
Donald Glaser won the 1960 Nobel Prize in Physics for inventing the bubble chamber, a detector that made subatomic particle tracks visible as strings of bubbles in superheated liquid — a device that became the standard tool of particle physics for the next two decades. He later shifted fields entirely, applying his physicist's instincts to biology.
