Mandy Cohen led the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as its 20th director from 2023 to 2025, having previously run North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services and served as chief operating officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under the Obama administration. Trained as an internist at Yale, she was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2021.
