Peter Goldreich has spent his career studying the mechanics of the solar system and beyond — planetary rings, neutron stars, and the seismic waves that ripple across the sun's surface — as the Lee DuBridge Professor of Astrophysics and Planetary Physics at Caltech and, since 2005, a professor at the Institute for Advanced Study. Asteroid 3805 Goldreich is named in his honor.
